Authentic Christianity Needs You!

authenticcover2.gif Many of you have already signed up for the incredible new magazine we're launching called Authentic Christianity! We still have room for lots more subscribers to this incredible magazine.

The goal of Authentic Christianity is to look at what living for Christ looks like in today's insanely distracting and fast paced world. In a day and age when so many look around and say "Is this really what Christianity looks like?" Authentic Christianity exits to hold up a biblical standard of what a genuine walk with Christ should be.

There's no magic formula and no such thing as a "Perfect Christian" but there is such a thing as an Authentic one. How to get there, how to stay there, how to encourage others t be one; are all basic tenants that we're going to hit issue by issue with real stories that everyone can relate to, understand and appreciate. No preaching, no denominational controversy... just true Biblical encouragement and understandable ways to apply it.

We are Looking for Host Venues!

Do you have a big church? A retreat center? Museum? Ministry location with a large common area? Just about any medium to large open-to-the public venue will do.

Over the last 20 years, the original works of Ron DiCianni and our other artists have been displayed at Wheaton College, The Great Passion Play, The Billy Graham Museum, Victory Christian Center, Crystal Cathedral, The World Prayer Center, The International Missionary Fellowship and CBA - Just to name a few!

We're looking for new venues where we can continue the impact of these incredible original paintings as part of our continuing Art Outreach effort.

A few years ago, we discovered something... People who steadfastly refuse invitations to church will gladly accept an invite to something "Art" related. The net result... they come to see great art and while doing so, see something far greater - the Gospel!

Venues typically tell us that they see increase of between 50-200% in traffic flow during the events and that simply means more people are seeing the Gospel. A few years ago we opened a show in a fairly small metro area and averaged 3,000 people a day. That more then doubled the venue's typical weekly attendance!

But in order to have these events, we need venues willing to host them! Is that you? Is it your church, ministry or location? Are you on the board of a museum or foundation? If so, we'd love to talk to you.

Give our Ministry Support folks a call at 877.827.7763 menu option 4.

What does hosting a show typically involve? It typically means that your venue will bring in between 12-40 original pieces of art from one or more of our Artists. The venue or a patron is responsible for the shipping, insurance and publicity costs. Tapestry helps provide the logistical support for that so it's not on your shoulders. Shows typically run from a few weeks to several months in length.

What is an Art Outreach? Just that—an evangelistic outreach into your community through art.

Will it work? That's in God's hands but let us offer the best testimonial we can... every location we've ever worked with has had their community so impacted for Christ they've all offered us an open invite to come back whenever we want! Can't think of a better endorsement that that.

We encourage you to prayerfully consider inviting a show or Art Outreach into your community today!

The Holocaust was Legal...

Many of you have seen the features we have done on Ray Comfort’s new video 180. I was privileged to view a pre-release copy months before its release. Despite all that time, one part of it has gnawed on me until today.

Ray Comfort uses the Holocaust as a way to look at the wholesale slaughter of babies that we call “choice” here in America.

Despite a degree in History, despite years of studying WWII, despite more Jewish friends than I could count, I always assumed that the Holocaust was wrong because it was illegal. That after the Holocaust the United States stepped in and forced the Nazis to account for their “crimes”. Surely here in America if the government went on a multi-year killing spree eventually they would be called to account for breaking the law once order was restored. Right?

movie.gif But 180 pointed out something I had never known. There was nothing “illegal” about the Holocaust. In fact Hitler, the legally elected, duly constituted executive authority in Germany had, through proper channels, crafted laws to deprive the Jews (and other peoples) of their rights, their property and then their lives. All the Holocaust was, in the eyes of the German law, was mere implementation of those laws writ large.

However, all of us outside of the rulers of the Nazi party look at the events of Holocaust, the over 6 million slaughtered Jews, the atrocities & persecutions, with utter horror. Because despite the fact that something may be technically legal, there is a higher law that determines if something is right.

The actions of the Nazi’s were technically and ostensibly legal but they were morally reprehensible. And they were unquestionably wrong.

Which brings us to a consideration of things like abortion and homosexuality and prostitution and so many of the “sins” which Scripture decries but that man has regulated as “legal”. Let me be clear, just because something may be legal, does not make it right.

Consider Prostitution. It is outlawed in many states but legal in select locations of Nevada. Is it that as soon as you cross a pre-determined line, paying for sex somehow becomes right because it is legal? Or is it that man has so far perverted God’s intent that they have placed themselves, rather than Him as the arbiter of Good and Evil, Right and Wrong?

In this country, we slaughter millions of babies direct from the womb. Had those children been allowed to be born, we would have called them “people” and defended them with our lives. But because those same beings, with the same DNA, the same organs, hands, feet, lungs, heart, brain and skin as you or I, exist in a place of water and fluid rather than solid terra firma, we call them “tissue” and allow them to be discarded on a whim. If I were to walk up to a 3 month old at the request of the mother and jam a scalpel into his brainstem I would be immediately arrested for murder. But if I had done so just a few months earlier, and had the correct training, that same act would be legal. All because of a ridiculous stack of paper known as Roe v. Wade that made unborn children “non-human” and nothing more than fodder for a multi-billion dollar abortion industry.

How is that any different than what the Nazi’s did in WWII Germany? They passed laws that said Jews were non-human and could be exterminated. Fodder for a multi-billion dollar war machine.

Of course, it’s the mother’s choice here in America. Well it was the government’s choice back in Nazi Germany. Neither the murdered unborn nor the murdered Jews had a say in the decision, they were simply the victims of another’s choice.

Abortion is not right simply because it’s legal.

The same goes for homosexuality. The fact that it is no longer criminal will never make it right. The Bible clearly says that “Neither the sexually immoral… nor homosexual offenders…will inherit the Kingdom of God” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

Similarly, with abortion, the Bible decrees that any man who touches a woman in a way that causes her to miscarry is guilty of a punishable offense (Exodus 21:22-23).

For prostitution, the Bible calls those who engage in it to be “detestable” (Deuteronomy 23:18).

The wondrous thing about Jesus Christ’s sacrifice however is that those who have been saved through His death and justified through His resurrection, the Bible tell us, no longer “wallow” in their past sins and sinful way of life; they have been redeemed by His sacrifice.

We could go on and list a myriad of sins that are “legal”. It’s not the legality or illegality of an act that makes something Right or Wrong. That was where the moral authority for the Nuremberg trials came from for “crimes against humanity” after WWII. What was the basis for those charges? A higher moral law. And there is no higher authority than God.

Abortion is not Right simply because it’s legal. Homosexuality is not Right simply because it’s legal. Sin is not Right, simply because it is legal. Any more than the Holocaust was right, simply because it was legal.
