October marks "Pastor Appreciation Month" and October 9th, 2011 is designated as "Pastor Appreciation Sunday." While it true that we appreciate our pastors every week, this is a prime day to tangibly show your pastor what his ministry has meant to you and your family. The truth is that for most of us, we treat our pastors like our doctor, we're thankful for them year round but only really engage with him when we're sick or needing something. But unlike your doctor, most pastors don't have the 6 figure salary or the beach house that are the tangible indicators of successful practice. What they instead have are you... the members of their church.
Each year thousands of ministers hear the call of God on their life to preach the word and respond by stepping out in faith and ministry. But each year, thousands of pastors also leave the ministry out of discouragement, frustration, burnout or failure. Ron DiCianni painted The Legacy to encourage pastors that their race, when run focused on Christ, is not run in vein. That each time they preach they stand in an unbroken line of witnesses whose legacy they continue. More than that though, in Hebrews 12:1 the Bible tells us that we are surrounded by a "great cloud of witnesses" that provides a reason to throw off the weight of what would hold us back and run the "race" before us with diligence, eyes fixed on Christ. This Pastor's Appreciation Sunday, we encourage you consider presenting your pastor with a copy of Ron DiCianni's The Legacy as a tangible way to show your thanks for his ministry and encourage them that their race is not run unnoticed or in vein.
As a special way to make this print available, we have teamed up with Lifeway Christian Stores to create a very special paper print that you can purchase for Pastor Appreciation Sunday. This 14"×18" paper reproduction is hand signed by the artist and perfectly sized for inexpensive framing. This print is available in limited quantities from your local Lifeway Christian Bookstore.
Hi Grant,
No need to post this, but I would love to see other editions of Ron's work in smaller forms. For example, paintings designed for a counter top or to hang in a child's room above the bed . . . standard sized is fine for large rooms and open areas, but at least in my household, the painting needs to be smaller as there is plenty of competition – horse pictures and posters and drawings on the kids' walls already. : ) Of course, I would love to see the paintings Ron did for the AG in more smaller-home-sized editions or as a collection of smaller images in a horizontal frame. : ) Well, I appreciate you guys and I want you to know that you and Ron and your families are in my prayers every night . . . ever since I told Ron I would pray for you all at the 2007 General Council (I believe that's when it was). Have a great day!

A few weeks ago my wife and I wanted to show our pastor how much we appreciated him. So we presented him with the print The Refiners Fire. His time in the pulpit pales in comparison to the time he spends interceding for the members of the church and guiding others through their fires even as he faces his own fire. We could not think of a more appropriate print for our pastor.
