SYNOPSIS:

"In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge." Proverbs 14:26 KJV

With the desire to paint a picture that expressed the love that Jesus has for children, Michael Dudash brilliantly created My Sanctuary. Any parent can relate to this most intimate of emotions and has more than likely at one time or another prayed that God would be their protector and refuge. On top of that, we want our children to know they can find comfort and security in the arms of Christ – that He is a friend that will never fail them. What a comfort it is to know we can entrust Him not only with our own lives, but with the lives of our children as well.

ARTIST NOTE:

The models for My Sanctuary are a father and his own two kids who are friends of mine. They were very helpful and willing participants in the project. The flower in the little girl’s hand was added later – she was actually holding a dandelion at the time. And as I often do when necessary, I added the beard onto the father. He’s the same model that I used for the painting The Light of the World. The original oil is 30” x 40” and it was the first time I tried painting a piece for print reproduction as an image that has a “Vignette” feeling with soft and “painterly” edges.
