This portrait was created from a photo reference of a friend of mine. He was in costume for another project that I was working on and I liked the pose. When the painting was done, I added it to my portfolio and about six months later a publisher saw it and thought that it was a great impression of what Jabez in the Bible might have looked like. They picked it up and this painting can also be found on the inside page of the book, The Prayer of Jabez.
You can imagine how surprised my friend was that he became associated with the character of Jabez. Ironically, he was and still is the head of the prayer ministry in my church in Vermont. So in real life he was already playing the part of a prayer warrior!
