The Light of the World

The Light of the World

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”

ARTIST NOTE:

The Light of the World is a moving artistic portrait that reveals several aspects of the character of Jesus Christ - the foremost being that He truly is the “Light”. An oil lamp is in His right hand, which represents the light and power of the Holy Spirit that is being offered to all who accept Him as the one true God. His expression of quiet strength and patient love seems to be asking a question, “Do YOU know the Light of the World?” while at the same time revealing the answer “I AM the Light”. His steady gaze represents the never changing invitation of God to the whole world to follow Him so that we “won’t walk in darkness”, but will instead have “the light of life”.
