SYNOPSIS:

In a society where the definition of a “family” is constantly under attack, it is important to remember that the glue God designed to hold it all together is commitment in marriage. Notice the young man in The Blessing looking on at the older couple. An angel above the couple pours out blessings upon them for God blesses those who love each other as He loves us. DiCianni shows the young man in a thoughtful state illustrating that our children and grandchildren are carefully watching our example.

ARTIST NOTE:

In this painting, I have reflected two opposites of the spectrum. The young man is at a place of forming his ideas based on the world’s input – wondering how two people can still be attracted to each other when they are no longer young and attractive. What he can’t see is the angel pouring out the blessing that God gives to those who imitate His love to each other. Unconditionally and forever (Ephesians 5:25). A shadow of the cross is made from the couple symbolizing the ultimate love.
