Helping Hand

It is written that God will not give us more than we can bear. However, sometimes it feels like we are stuck so far in the mire of life that no matter what, we’re sinking regardless of what we do. What we so often fail to see or appreciate is the hand of Christ reaching down into our life just waiting for us to grasp His hand. How many times have we ignored His hand as we went on along life’s path and then complained that God doesn’t care?

Like the story of Peter walking on the water it was as he started to sink, not before, that Christ rescued him. When it looked the bleakest, as he was starting to drown then, “Immediately, Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.” (Matthew 14:31 NIV). It is at these dark moments of doubt and despair that Christ pulls us from the depths, dries us off and asks "Why did you doubt?".
