"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
The first time those words came alive was when Jesus demonstrated them on the cross 2,000 years ago to provide salvation for mankind. However, those words in John 15:13 came to life again for us on a balmy day in September a few years ago. This time it took the form of brave firefighters, police officers and rescue workers from all over the country who considered the lives of the imperiled victims greater than their own. Part of the five painting Heroes Series, No Greater Love illustrates our Savior’s words in action on an everyday basis.
The significance of this painting goes well beyond days of tragedy though. Our firemen are prepared to lay down their lives every call they run. No Greater Love masterfully depicts the everyday heroes that are our firemen. Laying down their lives is not a duty or a job, it is a determination to give all they have for their fellow man.
