The Bible clearly describes a day when Jesus will return to take to Heaven those who are His followers. It also says that only the Father knows the day and the hour that will happen. So Scripture calls for those who are on the Earth to guard our hearts and continuously be prepared for Christ’s return. Scripture also makes clear that when Christ returns, it will not be a humble or unheralded event. In The Second Coming of Jesus Christ, artist Ron DiCianni imagines that Christ’s return will literally be an earth-shaking, universe-altering event. As Christ steps off the throne, the angels of Heaven will herald the arrival of the King of the Universe. For those who know Him, it will be a glorious day when we will join Him for eternity and for those who do not know Him, it will be a tumultuous day full of terror. The question this painting begs is… will you be prepared to go with Him on that day? That’s a question you need to answer now because when Jesus comes, it will be quick – in the blink of an eye – so take a look at your heart and make sure you’re ready. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ serves as a reminder to us who know Christ that the time of His arrival may be near or far but it is a guaranteed certainty and we need to live each day as if Christ were returning today.
